Make Music Madison

June 21, 2024

Make Music Madison is an annual event on June 21 that celebrates live music with the international World Make Music Day. For the last 5 years we’ve enjoyed music in Westmorland Park for this event.

This year, we have a great lineup!

4:30-5:30: Electric Spanking
  •     Electric Spanking is a 5-piece funk/rock/jam band out of Madison, WI performing a wide musical variety of originals and covers.
5:45 – 6:45: Tite2Nite
  • Tite2Nite (G.Rae & T.Paul) made their first public debut in 2018 as “The Fuggits” at Midvale Heights community station WIDE-LP 99.1FM “radio for the 99%” featuring original tunes about a Cow, a Sow, neighborhood dog tributes, and Tangled Up In Cords/Chords — a parody of Bob Dylan’s Tangled Up In Blue. The duo’s funkarelic style also covers popular songs on soprano, tenor, baritone, and micro-bass ukuleles. Deck jams eventually moved to driveway sessions during the pandemic for neighbors to celebrate music while listening to unique renditions of Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven, the Beatles Here Comes The Sun, David Crosby’s Long Time Gone and Southern Cross, Tom Petty tunes, and a host of other favorites from Rock, Folk, and Americana artists — as well as our own Roadkill Blues and more!
7-7:30: Burr Oak
  • Burr Oak is the brainchild of Chicago-based singer/songwriter Savanna Dickhut, borne from the ashes of a tumultuous breakup. Her debut release “Late Bloomer” dives into Savanna’s relationship with depression, trauma and acceptance with indie/folk sounds. Now a four-piece band with a lineup including: Tony Mest (drums), Kevin Sheppard (guitar) and Meredith Nesbitt (bass), Burr Oak is always changing and evolving, just like a burr oak tree, transforming and adapting with the seasons. The band has quietly been gearing up for their sophomore release— a 5 song EP titled “Annabelle,” slated for release via Audiosport Records near the end of summer 2024. Departing from their previous album, “Late Bloomer,” which showcased a more personal approach to songwriting, Savanna Dickhut (vocals and guitar) and Tony Mest (drums) craft a conceptual piece centered around the character of Annabelle.
7:40 – 8:30: Joe Kaplow
  • Joe Kaplow is one of California Bay Area’s top artists. His music is both intimate and expansive. Starting with a thoughtful, lyrically masterful folk song, the music gets turned inside out in the studio and on stage with his 4 piece rock band, creating a sound that hits all the sweet spots. His band and he came out with their third full length record ‘Posh Poodle Krystal and Toe’ on May 17th via Fluff and Gravy Records (pdx) and are currently on a national tour supporting it.
