12th Annual Westmorland Golf Benefit

It’s time to sign up for the 12th Annual Westmorland Golf Benefit at beautiful Glenway “Country Club” on Saturday, Sept. 12. The golf format is a 9-hole best ball team scramble. Rates are $30 for adults, $20 for youth (12 and under) for golf and prizes (carts are extra).  The rates for the event are reduced this year as we are not currently planning a lunch buffet and post-event prize giveaway on the patio at the course unless health restrictions are lifted later this summer.  We’re excited that we can still play golf for the benefit but the current restrictions make it too difficult to safely meet as a group at Glenway.  We will try to come up with an alternate site to gather to at least give away prizes after the event and possibly have a lunch. We’ll update the registered participants when we get closer to the event about whether we can have any post-event activities. 

We are encouraging all players to follow the Public Health Madison & Dane County golf course best practices found at:  https://publichealthmdc.com/documents/golf_best_practices.pdf  We want to make sure this is a safe and fun event for everyone participating.  Glenway’s clubhouse is not currently open to patrons but there are two portable toilets on the course along with hand-washing stations.  The clubhouse is open for purchasing refreshments.

The event format is a 9-hole best ball team scramble.   We will assemble any singles or doubles into teams of 3 or 4 players as long as players are comfortable with distancing.  Within your group, you all tee off and then pick the best shot from your team.  Everyone plays from there.  Continue picking the best shot where everyone plays from until holed and mark the score for your group.  If you’re in a 2 or 3-person teams, one member can hit twice at each spot but please rotate team members taking the extra shot.

As always, we’ll have a number of flag events for prizes.  These are holes such as closest to the pin, long drive etc.  We always give registrants a sleeve of balls and tees at the beginning of the round.
